Staub cookware is made of from the best cast iron in the world. Cast iron is heavy and there are many benefits to using it for your cooking. What makes Staub cast iron different to others.. All the Staub cookware has self-basting spikes underneath the lid to ensure continuous natural basting, it is highly durable, does not discolor or rust and is resistant to chipping. No seasoning is required. The more you use it, the better it gets! Oils used when cooking will penetrate the pores of the matte enamel and create a natural, smooth non-stick surface. The special, smooth ceramic bottom is usable on all heat sources. All of the knobs are either solid nickeled steel or brass that can withstand temperatures up to 500F and of course all made in the Staub factory in France which has been producing this cookware since 1974.
